MYELOGRAM
What is a Myelogram?
Under the guidance of fluoroscopy, the Radiologist will inject a special contrast material directly into the spinal canal. After the injection is completed images of the contrast filled spine will be obtained.A myelogram provides a very detailed image of the spinal canal.
The myelogram test may be performed along with other tests such as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT).
Types of Myelogram:
●Cervical Spine
●Thoracic Spine
●Lumbar Spine
Reasons for Performing a Myelogram Scan Includes:
●Ankylosing spondylitis
●Herniated disc
●Spinal stenosis
●Bone spurs
●Arthritic discs
●Tumors
●Tearing away or injury of spinal nerve roots
●Infection
●Inflammation of the arachnoid membrane
●Cysts
●Spinal lesions caused by disease or trauma
There may be other reasons that your physician request a Myelogram.
