ARTHROGRAM


What is an Arthrogram?

Under the guidance of fluoroscopy, the Radiologist will inject a special contrast material directly into the joint space. After the injection is completed images of the contrast filled joint space will be obtained. An arthrogram provides a very detailed image of the joint space. The arthrogram test may be performed along with other tests such as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT).

Types of Arthrograms:

Shoulder
Wrist
Elbow
Ankle
Hip
Knee

Reasons for Performing a Arthrogram Scan:

Arthrograms can be utilized to evaluate problems with tendons and ligaments around the joint space. There may be other reasons that your physician request an arthrogram.
